Dr Fanning is a graduate of the University of Queensland.  He completed his resident training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital before spending three years on the Darling Downs training in General Practice and being awarded FRACGP.

He then undertook basic physician training at Princess Alexandra Hospital and subsequently completed advanced training in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine.

Dr Fanning’s special interests include:

• lung cancer
• complex sleep-related breathing disorders
• insomnia
• circadian rhythm disorders

He is currently researching the clinical utility of the detection of circulating tumor cells in lung cancer.

Dr Matt Fanning is a graduate of the University of Queensland. He undertook his training in Respiratory Medicine at the Mater Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.  He then completed his fellowship in Sleep Medicine at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Matt has expertise and has published research in pulmonary infection, severe asthma, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer and COPD.  He also has an interest in breathing and sleep disorders in athletes.  He is currently researching the role of circulating autoantibodies in predicting the severity of interstitial lung disease.

Matt is a skilled bronchoscopist and has extensive training in endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS).

Dr Masa Kudo is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician. He is a graduate of University of Queensland. Dr Kudo completed dual training in Respiratory medicine and General medicine at the Prince Charles Hospital and the Mater Hospital. He then completed a fellowship in Sleep Medicine at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Dr Kudo has an interest in looking after patients with undifferentiated problem and complex medical needs. He also has expertise in managing wide range of respiratory and sleep disorders including asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis, lung cancer, and sleep apnoea.

Dr Kudo has a special interest in non-respiratory sleep conditions such as:

• Insomnia
• Restless legs
• Hypersomnolence disorder

Dr Kudo’s clinic is located at the Respirologist facility at Westside Private Hospital, Taringa. This is a new, state-of-the-art facility fully equipped to provide comprehensive diagnostics including a respiratory and sleep laboratory.
