As a member of the Gastroenterology Network for Intestinal Ultrasound, the Gastroenterological Society of Australia and the Gastroenterological Society of Queensland, Dr Gilmore performs intestinal ultrasound to assist in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal conditions.
Qualifications
Dr Gilmore earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Glasgow, Scotland in 2014. After training as a junior doctor in the National Health Service, he moved to Australia and undertook advanced gastroenterology training in Melbourne. He has had the privilege of completing clinical and research fellowships at the Royal Alexandra Hospital Glasgow, Austin Health Melbourne and Mater Hospital Brisbane, before attaining his Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2023. He is pursuing a PhD in the real-world application of novel therapies for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) at the University of Queensland, where he also holds a fellow and lecturer position.

It reduces the time to diagnosis, supports Australia’s Bowel Cancer Screening Program, and triages patients with positive test results.

Patients with eligible private health cover can access no-gap procedures with Dr Gilmore, aside from any applicable excess or co-payment. Research & Publications
Dr Gilmore is an active clinician and researcher, as well as a patient advocate. His research focuses on quality improvement and the real-world use and effectiveness of novel IBD therapies in Australia. He leads numerous clinical trials and has published papers in Australian and International medical journals. He frequently shares his expertise as an invited speaker at national and international conferences.
