Dr Wong is a respected Gastroenterologist with a strong focus on:

With extensive experience across various clinical settings, Dr Wong has cared for critically ill patients in the public system and has progressed through all levels of gastroenterology and hepatology, from internship to advanced training before becoming a specialist. His career has included roles in regional practices, state liver transplant centres, and facilities specialising in high-quality colonoscopy and polypectomy. This diverse experience has given him a profound understanding of the complex conditions patients can face, recognising that no two patients are alike.
Qualifications
Graduating with honours, Dr Wong completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Western Australia in 2010. He then undertook basic physician training in Perth before advancing his gastroenterology training at Lismore Base Hospital, Port Macquarie Base Hospital, and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in New South Wales. He further refined his expertise during a year of advanced training at QEII Jubilee Hospital in Brisbane, focusing on high-quality colonoscopy, improving adenoma detection rates, advanced endoscopic techniques for polyp resection, and capsule endoscopy. In 2018, Dr. Wong was awarded a Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Dr Wong is an avid supporter of Rapid and Direct Endoscopy services. This service allows eligible patients to schedule their endoscopies within two weeks, bypassing the initial specialist consultation when appropriate. It streamlines the diagnostic process, especially for those with positive results from Australia’s National Bowel Cancer Screening Program, ensuring priority access to expert care and reduced wait times for patients.
Privately Insured No Gap Services
Dr Wong is a no-gap provider. Patients with adequate private health insurance do not incur additional costs for their procedure, aside from any applicable excess or co-payment. Most Anaesthetists at Westside Private Hospital are also no-gap providers.

Dr Wong has presented research findings at local and international gastroenterology conferences. Additionally, several of his research abstracts have been published in Australian and international journals.
Volunteering & Mentoring
Dr Wong actively contributes to his profession as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, where he provides bedside teaching to medical students and both basic and advanced trainees. He supervises and instructs advanced trainees specialising in gastroenterology and endoscopic procedures and serves in a supervisory role on the conjoint committee for recognition and training in endoscopy.
Outside work, Dr Wong enjoys playing the piano, attending music concerts, running, travelling, and spending quality time with his family.
