Dr Stephen Williams is currently a Senior Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Westmead Hospital. Dr Williams is also an honorary therapeutic endoscopy consultant at Westmead’s Children’s Hospital and a VMO at Southern Highlands Private Hospital and Rosemont Endoscopy Centre. Prior to these positions, Dr Williams was Head of Department and Director of Endoscopy at Westmead Hospital as well as Chairman of the Australian Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Association (AGEA).
Dr Williams covers all aspects of Gastroenterology and Therapeutic endoscopy with a particular interest in the endoscopic management of large colonic polyps as well as biliary and pancreatic disease, with the role of endoscopy in the diagnosis and therapy of these conditions.
With a long-term commitment to the training of Gastroenterology at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level, Dr William trains registrars and fellows in the art and science of endoscopy. He is also committed to training fellow gastroenterologists at the tertiary level having convened and participated in multiple endoscopy workshops, both nationally and internationally. Dr Williams research interests have resulted in a Doctorate in Medicine (MD) at Sydney University and over 110 publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as multiple presentations at national and international conferences. Dr Williams is part of Rosemont’s Gastroenterology Open Access Program.
