Dr Shrivastava has more than 20 years’ experience in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology with a special interest in:

Dr Shrivastava was attracted to Gastroenterology because it provides a unique opportunity to deliver interventional services that yield immediate benefits for patients, whether through diagnosis, ongoing treatment, or preventative care aimed at improving quality of life.
Qualifications
Dr Shrivastava obtained his MD in Internal Medicine in 2001, before going on to complete his Doctorate of Medicine in Gastroenterology from 2002 to 2005. He completed his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2021.
Dr Shrivastava has accumulated two decades of experience in interventional gastroenterology in India and the United Arab Emirates giving him broad experience in managing complex patients which is further supported by his experience in Hepatology, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and the management of Functional Bowel Disorders. A career highlight, Dr Shrivastava was previously Director of Endoscopic Services at the JCI-accredited hospital in Hyderabad, South India. He excels in prognostication and managing cases where patients can derive the maximum benefit.

Dr Shrivastava prides himself on addressing all patient concerns and performing high quality, safe procedures which are of maximum benefit to his patients. He finds balancing good communication with interventional skills as a key approach to patient care. Dr Shrivastava considers a patient’s medical history, risk factors and past investigations when arriving at a tentative diagnosis, and obviating the need for unnecessary tests. His approach to patient care is thorough, safe and holistic, always seeking the maximum benefits. Dr Shrivastava’s expertise in managing endoscopic emergencies often sees his medical colleagues calling on him for advice and assistance during more complex endoscopic procedures.
Rapid & Direct Endoscopy (Open Access)
Dr Shrivastava offers Rapid and Direct Endoscopy services. Rapid and Direct Endoscopy allows eligible patients to schedule their endoscopies within two weeks, bypassing the initial specialist consultation when appropriate. This service streamlines the diagnostic process, particularly for those with positive results from Australia’s National Bowel Cancer Screening Program, ensuring timely investigation and reduced wait times for patients.
Privately Insured No Gap Services
Dr Shrivastava is a no-gap provider. Patients with sufficient private health insurance pay no gap for their procedure, apart from any applicable excess or co-payment. Please note, this does not include Anaesthetist fees, which can sometimes be charged separately.

Awards and publications
In addition to having his research article on Chronic Radiation Proctitis management published in the Journal of Tropical Medicine, Dr Shrivastava has received several awards. His research paper on Hepatobiliary intervention was adjudged the best National Paper at the Indian Society of Gastroenterology National Conference in 2003. Dr Shrivastava was also awarded the Best Outgoing University Student in Gastroenterology in 2005.
Mentoring
Dr Shrivastava is heavily involved in teaching and mentoring Medical Registrars and Advanced Trainees to manage complex patients. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, where he teaches undergraduate medical students.
Outside of work, Dr Shrivastava is a swimmer and long-distance runner, and greatly enjoys listening to classical Indian music.
